Dacia Duster Second Generation (2017-2023) User Guide, Owner Manual

Vehicle Features, Controls and User Guide

1. Key and Remote Control

The key is used to turn on the ignition switch, as well as in some cases, it is used to open and close the doors and the tank cap. It might happen that the key is necessary for the ignition switch, the driver’s door, and the fuel filler cap. To use the remote control, you need to equip your Dacia Second Generation vehicle

By pressing the lock button, you can block your car and its opening elements. To unlock them, you need to press the opposite button. It is essential that the working distance of the remote control may vary depending on the location where it is used. When using the key or the remote control, you must note that it is impossible to accidentally press buttons and lock or unlock the vehicle.

2. Unlocking the Doors

From outside the vehicle, you can open the doors by using the Dacia remote control or by using the key in one of the door locks. According to the version, the key opens only the driver's door or all doors. By using the interior door locking button, you need to press button 1 to lock the door and lift the button to unlock it in the Second Generation vehicle.

3. Manual Door Locking

If you need to manually lock the doors, use the interior locking control provided on the door. Make sure that all doors and the tailgate are closed and locked before exiting the vehicle.

4.  Seat Position

Raise bar 1 to release the seat and slide it forward or backwards until the desired position is reached. Once the seat is positioned correctly, release the bar and make sure that the seat is locked in place before starting to drive.

5.  Seat Height

Depending on the type of Dacia Duster you own, use lever 2 or 6 to adjust the height of the seat base. Raise the lever and move the seat base up or down to your liking, and then lower the lever to make sure that the seat is locked in place, and that you're ready to drive.

7. Rear-Facing Child Seat Safety

Babies have large and heavy heads compared to the rest of their bodies, and their neck muscles are underdeveloped, so they need extra support while on the road. A rear-facing car seat lifts a baby’s head, neck, and spine to give them comfort throughout the ride.

For this reason, it is critical to keep your baby in a rear-facing position as much as possible in accordance with the recommendations of the infant seat manufacturer and corresponding to the child’s age, weight, and height.

Make sure you buy an infant seat that offers good side protection for the Second Generation vehicle. Replace the seat with another seat when the baby's head is near or extending beyond the edge of the shell or at the recommended weight or height. Always have the child restraint system properly installed according to the manufacturer's instructions and secured before you drive in the Second Generation vehicle.

8.  Forward-Facing Child Seat Safety

As they grow, a child's head and abdomen are particularly vulnerable during a collision while travelling in your Dacia Duster. A forward facing child seat attached with a safety harness is recommended.

Use a forward facing child seat and make sure it has a safety harness that suits the size of your child and is used within the manufacturer's recommendations. The harness must keep the child in a safe position during a sudden stop.

To offer the best possible protection choose a seat that has been tested and proven to effectively protect children during side impacts whilst offering maximum support to the upper body. The seat should always be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and checked to make sure it is correctly secured for each journey.

9.  Headlight Beam Adjustment

The headlight beam height control (A) can be used to adjust the headlights in accordance with the load of the Second Generation vehicle. The headlight beams are lowered by turning the control anticlockwise and are raised by turning it clockwise. For example, when driving with the driver, one front seat passenger and two rear seat passengers, the headlights should be adjusted to take into account the additional load in the Second Generation vehicle.

To make the necessary adjustments to the headlights manually, first open the bonnet and locate marking B on the front near the front headlight projector. Then, use a screwdriver to turn screw 1 a quarter of a turn towards the – to lower the headlight beam.

Once you have finished driving, remember to turn the screw a quarter of a turn towards the + to return the headlights to their original position.

Driving

1.  Environmental Care

The Dacia Duster has been thought of and designed in an environmentally-friendly way from manufacturing and using to the end-of-life. The manufacturer's eco² philosophy is a true commitment to cutting down environmental impact.

Dacia cars are produced at factories with a goal to have minimum negative impact on the environment, such as water and energy consumption, emission, noise, visual impact, effluents and waste management, and recycling and recovery of materials whenever possible

2.  Tyre Pressure Check

Check and adjust the tyre pressure when changing a wheel or when the recommended pressure has to be changed due to the vehicle load or the road conditions, for example, driving on the motorway. Verify the tyre pressure when they are cold and ensure that the pressure corresponds to that indicated on the driver's door frame.

When the indicator light is on, check all tyres as one of them could be punctured or completely flat. Reinflation the tyre or replace it if it is punctured and contact then an authorised Dacia dealer. When the indicator light is on, check that it is not flashing as the problem could be related to one of the sensors.

In such case, bring the vehicle to an authorised Dacia dealer to inspect the Dacia Duster tyre pressure monitoring system.

3.  Parking Distance

The reversing sensors are designed to assist the driver in angling the vehicle in reverse direction by providing simple and clear warning signals. As the vehicle approaches objects near the rear of the vehicle, the beeps from the reversing sensors will quicken, and change to a continuous sound when the vehicle is very close to an object.

A beep should sound when the gear is placed in reverse in the Second Generation vehicle. A beeping noise that lasts for approximately three seconds suggests a problem with the reversing sensors. Make sure that the sensors on the back of the Second Generation vehicle's bumper are not obstructed by dirt, mud, or snow. The reversing sensors are only a driver-assist feature and should not be relied on as the main precaution when backing up in the Second Generation vehicle.

Maintenance

1.  Engine Oil Level Check

It is normal for an engine to consume minimum amounts of oil during its operation to provide lubrication and cooling of its parts. In such a case, it may be necessary to refill the engine with oil before the scheduled maintenance. It is recommended to determine the engine oil level quite often, especially before a long trip.

To check the engine oil level in a Dacia Duster, please, remove the dipstick and wipe it off with a clean, lint-free cloth and re-insert into to the cylinder fully and take it out once again.

Once removed, use the markings on the dipstick as a guide. The oil level must not be below mark A and should not be higher than mark B. Do not drive your car if the oil level is below the minimum mark and above the maximum mark.

If after the engine break-in period, you discover that your engine oil consumption per 1000 km (600 miles) is higher than 0,5 litres, you should contact an authorised Dacia dealer as soon as possible. Always check the engine oil level with the help of an oil dipstick. Do not overfill the engine with oil.

2. Brake Fluid Level

The level of brake fluid may drop as the brake pads or shoes are worn down, but it should never be below the MIN level on the brake fluid reservoir.

Any work on the hydraulic part of the brake system should be carried out by a qualified specialist who will dispose of the old fluid and refill the system with the correct type of fluid for your Dacia Duster Check and maintain braking system fluids according to the periodical maintenance schedule.

3. Coolant Level

Make sure that the level of coolant is enough to prevent the engine from overheating in the Second Generation vehicle. In case of lack of coolant, it should be topped up to the required level with the recommended coolant for Dacia Duster. The right coolant protects the engine from freezing and corrosion in the Second Generation vehicle.
