Driving

1. Petrol Engine Operating Advice

Try to avoid prolonged driving at a low fuel level. Use only the petrol recommended for your car, and do not use unapproved fuel or oil additives. These can damage your engine and exhaust system.

Poor engine performance such as misfiring or loss of engine power should be addressed immediately. Continued operation of the vehicle with a misfiring engine can result in catalytic converter damage and/or costly repair.

If the engine stalls you should not attempt to restart, or tow or push the vehicle until the cause of the stalling has been identified.
If these problems occur have the vehicle checked by an authorized dealer or service station as soon as possible.

2. Gear Selection

For vehicles equipped with a manual gearbox, the gear pattern on the gear lever should be followed to select the required gear. Vehicles fitted with a sequential gearbox should follow the specific procedure for the type of gearbox fitted.

3. Maintenance

The Dacia Sandero is type-approved for emissions and environment. The proper maintenance of the vehicle is important for the way the vehicle is maintained and used since it directly affects the fuel consumption and emissions. It is important to use the recommended engine, fuel-system and exhaust parts when repairing or replacing, as incorrect parts may undermine the vehicle's emission performance.

Make sure that the air filter is replaced if it becomes clogged. A dirty air filter will decrease the engine performance resulting in more emissions. Spark plugs should also always comply with the manufacturer's specifications.
The exhaust monitoring system ensures that the engine has not been tampered with or faulty emissions, which would result in excessive emissions.

If the emission warning light is on, the vehicle should be taken to an exhaust emissions-approved centre as soon as possible for the Sandero First Generation. If the emission warning light starts flashing, the driver should reduce the engine speed and have the vehicle inspected as soon as possible for the Sandero First Generation.

It is important to note that you need to keep track of the traffic situation and be prepared to control the car in case of an emergency.

5. Parking Distance Control

The parking distance control system assists the driver when moving the vehicle in reverse. It consists of parking sensors that warn the driver of the proximity of the vehicle to obstacles during the reversing process in the Sandero First Generation.

When the vehicle is close to an obstacle, the beeping sound of the parking sensors starts. The closer the obstacle is to the vehicle, the faster the beeping will be. Once the vehicle is at a very close distance to the obstacle, the beeping becomes continuous.

When the driver engages the vehicle’s reverse gear, the warning system indicates that the vehicle is in reverse. In case the warning sound is continuous for a long time, even when there are no obstacles around, the system should be taken to an authorised service station

.The parking distance control can be turned off when the driver needs to reverse for a short time. The switch for the parking distance control is used to turn the parking distance control system on or off.

Maintenance

1. Bonnet

To open the bonnet, lift it up slightly and release the safety catch. Lift the bonnet fully and prop it up with the bonnet strut.
Before closing it, make sure you have not forgotten to remove anything from the engine compartment. Lower the bonnet from approx. 30 cm above the closed position and release it so that it locks securely.

2. Engine Oil Level

Engine oil is gradually used during driving and therefore the oil level should be checked at regular intervals. Especially before a long journey, do the following: Park the vehicle on a level surface and switch off the engine. Wait a while then withdraw the dipstick, wipe it clean and reinsert it until the tip of the dipstick has been reached. Withdraw the dipstick once more and check the level of engine oil.

The level of the engine oil should always be between the min and max marks on the dip stick. Do not let the engine oil fall below the min level or allow it to run over the max level. Have your machine checked at an authorized service centre if the engine is using an unusual amount of oil.

3. Levels & Filters

Check the level of brake fluid with the engine off and the vehicle on level ground. The level should not be below the minimum level in the reservoir.
Check the engine coolant level regularly (with the engine cold) making sure that the level is not below the minimum or above the maximum in the reservoir. If the levels are low have it checked by an authorized dealer

4. Battery

The battery in most cases does not need to be maintained. The battery may be discharged as a result of the frequent but short trips, long driving in traffic, operation at low temperatures, and the use of electrical equipment with the engine off.

In case of replacement, we recommend that you visit an authorized dealer. When handling the battery, it is necessary to take safety precautions and protect it from open flames and smoking.

5. Tyre Pressure

Check the tyre pressures regularly, and always check them when they are cold. The recommended tyre pressures can be found on the tyre pressure label inside the driver's door.

If you check the pressure when they're hot you will get a higher pressure than you should, so make sure you don't let any air out of the tyres. For a full load or towing a trailer you must always observe the recommended tyre pressures and speed limits for your vehicle. Always make sure to use the correct pressure to avoid accelerated tyre wear and to obtain the best possible driving safety.
